“Walk a Mile in Her Shoes”

 LAFAYETTE, LA- April 17th, 2010

“Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” is the most unique event in town! Hearts of Hope is hosting their 4th annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes fundraiser on April 17, 2010 in the River Ranch Town Square beginning at 10:00am (registration at 9:00am).  Men from all walks of life will be protesting against sexual assault by walking a mile in high heel shoes!  Women and children are also encouraged to walk, wearing tennis shoes, for a donation of $10.  Men interested in participating are asked to contact our office for a packet and obtain a goal of $1,000 in pledges to prove they can make a difference in the fight against sexual assault.   Come out and support a great cause at the Walk a Mile in Her Shoes benefit!

Proceeds will benefit Hearts of Hope–Children’s Advocacy Center, Sexual Abuse Response Center and Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners.

I wanted to link this incredible story on Paul Marx, written and well told by Curtis Darrah in the September/October 2009 issue of the SLEMCO Power magazine.  I followed Paul Marx on the air many years ago, at KSIG, where I began my radio career.  He was a contemporary of my father and as well known then, as he is now, for what he is doing.  I very much enjoyed the article, and am so glad someone (Curtis Darrah in this case) took the time to record, and tell the story.  Click on the link below, it will take you to the PDF representation of the article to which I refer.
